About Divorce Attorneys in Roslyn, NY

Child’s name change matters are often handled by divorce attorneys in Roslyn, NY. The process itself sounds simple enough and for most people, it is a matter of filling out and filing proper paperwork. However, during divorce proceedings where biological or adopted children have resulted from the union, and the parents are at odds with one another, the parents may not agree on the name change.

Roslyn is a village in Nassau County, New York, on the North Shore of Long Island. As of the United States 2010 Census, the village population was 2,770. Roslyn was once called Hempstead Harbor, but its name changed to Roslyn on September 7, 1844 due to postal confusion regarding all the other "Hempsteads" scattered about Long Island. The school district in the Roslyn Union Free School District is made up of five schools: Heights School, Harbor Hill School, East Hills School, Roslyn Middle School, and Roslyn High School.[7] The Heights School serves as pre-kindergarten and kindergarten for the entire district, and as first grade for half the students in the Roslyn area. The two elementary schools each serve half of the Roslyn school district. Harbor Hill School provides education for students in grades one through five. The East Hills School serves students in grades two through five. Roslyn Middle School has in grades six through eight. Roslyn High School , built on land donated by the Mackay family, serves students in grades nine through twelve.

As no two people are alike, neither are any two families, or legal matters involving family situations. Financial implications vary. The degree of psychological and emotional trauma may differ. There may be other legal issues and personal ramifications to be considered. Since 1985, the Law Offices of Russell I. Marnell, P.C. has realized this. Concentrating on complex divorce and family law, our firm has litigated many cases to Court decision, including those involving orders of protection, child abuse and neglect.

Most experienced matrimonial attorneys charge a consultation fee. The primary reason we charge a consultation fee is to prevent your spouse from "attorney shopping" i.e. if your spouse were to meet with several top attorneys, you would be precluded from retaining any of the attorneys yourself. This tactic is called "poisoning the well."

Consultations typically last one to two hours during which you will receive our undivided attention.
